PerspectiveFacing North-Northeast

The Dalles Dam can be seen at the bottom of the photograph with US Hwy 197 running along the left side. What would later become Dock Road can be seen running east from US Hwy 197 and looping along the waterfront. The two railroad grade crossings shown were removed after completion of the Dock Road railroad overpass in 1983. The Klickitat PUD's Spearfish Substation can be found approximately halfway across and between one-half and one-third the way up from the bottom of the photograph (the small black square just above the single electric transmission tower). Perhaps most notable are those features that do not appear in the photo including Parallel Avenue, Dow Road, and the rail spurs, mine, water reservoir, and barge dock.
